Call for Sessions – First congress of LAERE

Submit your proposal!

Deadline: November 15th, 2024 

Members of the Latin American Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (LAERE) are invited to submit proposals of full sessions to the 1st Congress of the Latin American Association of Environmental and Resource Economists. The Congress will take place in Bogotá – Colombia, from March 19th to 21st, 2025. This gives professionals and academics the opportunity to increase visibility of their research and promote our research field.   

Organized sessions last 75 minutes. Each special session is organized by someone acting as chair and has three (3) presenters with 25 minutes each. A slideshow (e.g., PowerPoint) is required for each oral contribution, but the online submission system also allows contributors to upload full papers or other types of supporting material. 

Participants wishing to take part in the event with a LAERE organized session are requested to submit a file including the following information: 

· The title and a summary of the session 

· The focus of the session in terms of broad topical categories (e.g., agricultural and rural policy) 

· The name, affiliation and contact details of the chairperson. 

· The author(s), title and abstract of each contribution. 

The phrase “Call for Sessions Submission” should appear in file name.

Session proposals submitted without all the required information will not be considered. 
Electronic acknowledgements of submissions will be sent to all submitters. 

The deadline to submit your proposal to LAERE is November 15th, 2024. 

Proposals will be pre-evaluated by a committee appointed by LAERE. 

Notification of selection is expected by December 10th.

Join us in person at the Carcavelos Campus in Lisbon, Portugal, with some hybrid events as part of the program.

Call for papers:  First Congress of the Latin American Association of Environmental and Resource Economists

The Latin American Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (LAERE), in collaboration with the Universidad de Los Andes and the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management (JEEM), are pleased to announce the call for papers for the First Congress of LAERE, to be held in Bogotá, Colombia, from March 19th to 21st, 2025. 

Papers presented at the congress may be considered for publication in a special issue organized by JEEM. 

The submission deadline is November 8, 2024. 

We are currently accepting extended abstracts and full papers. Extended abstracts should be between 500 and 1000 words, detailing the most relevant aspects of the study. Full papers must be accompanied by an extended abstract submitted as an additional file. Both documents should be written in English. 

During submission, authors should indicate whether they wish to be considered for the special issue in JEEM, and if they want to present their paper in the oral presentation or in the poster session. 

Selected abstracts and papers will be announced by December 10th, 2024. 

A limited amount of financial aid is available for students from countries of the Global South to cover the registration fee and, in some cases, help towards travel expenses. Further information about the congress and a link for submission can be found at https://laere.org/en/upcoming-events/

Congress of the Latin American Association of Environmental and Resource Economists

(LAERE 2025)

19 – 21 March | Bogotá, Colombia

The Congress of the Latin American and the Caribbean Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (LAERE2025) will take place on 19-21 March 2025. The conference will be held in person in the vibrant city of Bogotá, Colombia, including some hybrid events as part of the program.

The conference is hosted by the Department of Economics at Universidad de los Andes and co-organized by the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, JEEM.

The keynote speakers for the congress will be:

  • Ben Groom (Dragon Capital Chair in Biodiversity Economics, University of Exeter)
  • Paulina Oliva (University of Southern California)
  • Juan Pablo Rud (Royal Holloway, University of London)
