📢📚Call for Research Proposals: Advancing Women in Economics in the Global South (IEA)
There is increasing recognition of the fact that the entire economics profession is marked by inadequate representation of women. The profession has several components: students and faculty at various levels in universities, the publication ecosystem (journals, editors, referees), conferences, decision making/leadership positions. While the broad problem of gender imbalances is gradually being recognized, the precise contours of under-representation are not properly understood and need to be documented.
The International Economic Association (IEA) is seeking well-defined research proposals aimed at addressing the under-representation of women in economics, especially in the Global South. The goal is to identify effective interventions that reduce the gender gap in the profession, across academia, publications, conferences, and leadership.
Proposals can include piloting new interventions or evaluating existing policies. The IEA prioritizes proposals focused on Argentina, Colombia, Ghana, and Mexico, but submissions from other developing countries are also welcome.
